Directions: On this page there are three tasks you must complete and submit all three tasks. You may either email or hand write your work.

Task 1: Use the information in the brief introduction and the chart titled "The Constitution: Three important ideas" to write a paragraph in which you describe the purpose of the Constitution. Your paragraph must have a topic sentence, evidence, analysis and a conclusion.

Brief Introdution: Once the colonists defeated the British they created a new nation. In order to make the new American nation successful it was essential that an organized government was created. It was important that the new government address the issues that the caused the American Revolution.

Founders of this country wanted to make sure that government was not like the monarchy (king) they just rebelled against, so they wrote limitations into the Constitution to precisely outline what the government could and could not do.
DETAILS: This prevents the any one part of the government from becoming to strong

DETAILS:
First 10 amendments added to the Constitution to protect the rights of the people. Includes free speech, freedom of religion, free press, right to assemble, right to fair trials, and protection against illegal search and seizures.
